Show notes
Diversity and inclusivity:
This month we talked about the importance of making diversity a priority in your business following our ONLE Talks education with Nisha Haq. From the responses we gathered, it seems that there was a desire to learn and make positive change amongst business owners. However there was a collective fear of the consequences of asking the wrong question or asking a question in a way that made us appear ignorant or insensitive. Don’t just ignore because it’s uncomfortable, instead enter the conversation willing to learn. Try your best and grow with each setback.

Kelly’s networking gem: Attendance
Although ONLE has a more relaxed attitude towards attendance, it is worth noting the impression this has on others in the case of multiple absences. Additionally you are missing out on the chance to connect with visitors and new members which could mean you miss out on some valuable opportunities to grow your client base. While it is almost inevitable that you may miss a meeting here or there, sending a substitute in your place where possible shows your extra consideration for your fellow members.

ONLE members notes from around the network:
Shaun Payne: “Open category online networking through groups such as ONLE is the best tool small businesses have ever had to help grow. It’s taken all our businesses from regional, to national - and even international - overnight.”
Vanda Varga:  Having an “attitude of curiosity” serves you well.

Conclusion: Making your business more inclusive is morally right but it also serves your business. Take the time to consider the importance of having diversity of thought within your business and the need to stay relevant in order to survive.
