“You can only build relationships when you meet in person”. The ONLE Show ep8 with Claudia Tinnirello

Debunking the many myths surrounding online networking is the main topic of this ONLE Show. James is joined by co-host Kierney Frampton and Claudia Tinnirello of Sophisticated Cloud to discuss how online networking changed when it no longer became essential to meet people before doing business with them. You can also learn about Claudia's remarkable journey as a non-English speaker to becoming the proud owner of a very successful website building company.

Show notes
Claudia solidified our belief that online networking works by stating that prior to lockdown, everyone wanted to meet before giving her the green light to build their website. But during and post-lockdown, this is no longer the case - the expectation or demand for a face-to-face meeting has gone.

Wisdom from ONLE members:
Melanie Johnson: “I’ve never met many of my clients in-person”.

James Gayle: I love extending my network digitally. Younger generation, it’s second nature - whether you met in person or online, it’s just part of an organic process.

Visitor Anne Wong. “It’s easier to build relationships online. See people’s names not the backs of their heads. It’s structured to allow you to get to know people”

Bruce Grieg (talking about the myth that we struggle to build relationships online because of the lack of body language) “You can see the person’s entire face without any other distractions- you don’t get that level of feedback in person.”

Neena Saith: “You pick up on energy (online). If they’re calming, you feel it. Works on Zoom just as well as in person. The majority of my clients are online. It’s also easier to tune in - when you meet in person, there’s background noise, more distractions.”

Mona King: “Just talk to people. I talk about hobbies, pets, obstacles in life”.

Denyse Whiller - worked the roughest pub in Worthing to build her confidence. Take yourself out your comfort zones.

Conclusion: you don’t need body language or a Masters in behavioural habits to know if someone is uncomfortable/bored etc!
